Caution colours…

Caution colours… we are all aware the colour red is an indication of potential danger, and in our case to flag a potential hazard to other students and more so to remind us to be cautious. This being as we have gained skills dangerous to others, and that we may not be in full control of them as yet.

In a scientific study, a group of scientists dressed in different coloured clothing to offer fruit to a troop of wild monkeys… The results were striking, the monkeys paid no mind to the age, sex or race of the scientists.

Those wearing green or blue made little difference either, but in the significant majority of cases, they steered clear of the red-clad scientists’ food.

The researchers believe that this aversion to red reflects an evolutionary adaptation. It is no accident then that humans understand that red means caution.

Three is the magic number...

There are three types of Reaction Force

1. Pivotal… 'spinning' reaction force.

This form of reaction force works by two objects spinning around a central point.
[The most efficient way to turn a large steering wheel on a bus or lorry, would be to push with one hand and pull with the other in equal amounts... this would be using reaction force by pushing and pulling at the same time to maximize the power in the movement]

2. Compressive… Inward, compressing the arms inward

3. Expansive… Outward, expanding the arms outward

These are more muscular reaction forces…

These 2 types of reaction forces work in opposite direction to each other, but use the same principal.
This being the use of your back or chest muscles to generate added power to carry out the technique.
