Red rag to a bull…
Red rag to a bull… control your feelings, you are now in possession of some formidable techniques, your aim now should be to master your emotions as well as you have mastered some of your new found skills.
A truly masterful person channels any raised emotions into being as perfect in performance as possible to overcome their opponent or complete a task, NOT see red and lose control…. If you ask an athlete when they are at their best what they are feeling at that moment, you often hear them explain it as being ‘in the zone’, this meaning that every thought and feeling have come together flawlessly for them to perform as perfectly as possible, and that nothing distracts them from it.
Points or Power
Some techniques may be performed slightly differently to allow for points in sparing, as opposed to power for destruction...
for example in sparing a practitioner may forsake destructive power so the technique can be performed quicker 'for points', this is still a valid technique as a lighter point type attack could be used to disorientate or distract an opponent before a more decisive blow,
Remember these are not two different moves but just varying degrees of interpretation in application, as the move can be blended from one extreme to the other depending on the required effect.
In the performance of a pattern it would be expected the full power version would be performed as this is ultimately the technique that could be decisive in combat.
