Light...

Light ! or is it black at the end of the tunnel… your goal in getting to black belt, in this initial part of your Tae Kwon Do training is nearly over, and you can then embark on an advanced learning adventure through the black belt grades.

similar to basic training in the military, or becoming a doctor or perhaps someone gaining their piolets license, it may be the end of the first phase of learning with great achievements, but now the start of a whole new chapter specialising further in their particular field, say the new recruit becoming ship’s captain in the Navy, the doctor becoming a brain surgeon, or the piolet becoming an astronaut.

“The more I learn, the more I understand how little I know”

Full of potential…

Energy is nether created or destroyed... it merely moves from one place or form to another, the energy can be ether Potential Energy or Kinetic Energy.

Potential Energy: Is when the energy is latent or static, stored within an object but not actually ‘doing’ anything.

Kinetic Energy: Is when the energy is being transferred ether into another form or is actually ‘doing’ something.

An example could be, wood has the potential to burn changing the energy from fuel to heat, or a boulder sitting at the top of a mountain has Potential Energy within it, and this energy is only released as it rolls downhill, this being it now has Kinetic Energy in the movement of its’ mass.

In Tae Kwon Do the conservation of energy is a key consideration when you link moves together, some of the most powerful techniques you will perform will be as part of a combination, quite often the second or third move of the combination.

So with the conservation of energy (Kinetic Energy), the momentum gathered in the first movement is transferred to the second or even the third element of the sequence, this adding power…. Usually we see this is in the form of rotation ‘spinning’ the body with the techniques flowing from one to the other.
